Virtual Class Breakout Rooms

 

While engaged in a virtual class, you can create breakout rooms to facilitate smaller group discussions.

 

CREATING A BREAKOUT ROOM

1.      

Click the Gear icon next to the users list and click Create breakout rooms.

 

2.      

In the menu that opens, use the Number of rooms dropdown menu to select the number of breakout rooms you want to create.

 

3.      

Then, set the duration of the breakout session.

 

4.      

Next, users will be assigned to breakout rooms. There are three ways to do this. To manually assign users to specific rooms, drag their names from the Not assigned list on the left to a room listed on the right.

 

5.      

To randomly assign users to rooms, click Randomly assign.

 

6.      

To allow users to select their own rooms, click on the checkbox next to that option.

 

7.      

When you are done, click Create. The breakout rooms will immediately launch.

 

 

 

 

MANAGING BREAKOUT ROOMS

1.      

Once breakout rooms have been launched, the Breakout Rooms button will appear on the left-hand sidebar menu. Using this menu, you can see the number of users in each room as well as their names.

 

2.      

To join a breakout room in progress, click Join room.

 

3.      

To end the breakout rooms before the scheduled time, click End all breakout rooms.
