Uploading and Sharing Content in a Virtual Class

THE WHITEBOARD

1.

Virtual Classes are also equipped with a shareable whiteboard. This whiteboard can be used to quickly share drawings with all participating users. The whiteboard can be found in the center of the screen.

2.

The toolbar to the right of the whiteboard provides editing options including undo and clear.

3.

You can also share the whiteboard with participating users in real-time by clicking the Turn multi-user whiteboard on button at the bottom of this toolbar.

4.

To add content to the whiteboard, click the Tools button at the top of the toolbar. Then select the type of content you would like to add: text, line, ellipse, triangle, rectangle, or pencil.

5.

To add text, click Text after clicking Tools from the right-hand toolbar. Then click drag to create a rectangular textbox, starting from the lower-right corner. Once the rectangle is drawn, any text that is typed will appear in the box.

6.

You can change the font size and color using the new options that appear in the right-hand toolbar.

7.

To add a shape, click the appropriate option after clicking the Tools button from the right-hand toolbar. Clicking and dragging once a shape is selected will draw that shape on the whiteboard.

8.

The thickness and color of the shapes can be adjusted using the new options that appear in the right-hand toolbar.

SCREEN SHARING

The presenter of a virtual class can share their screen with students in the class in addition to the webcam. A shared screen replaces the whiteboard on the page.

1.

To share your screen with the class, click the Screen icon at the bottom of the page.

2.

A menu will open. There are three options to share your screen: you can share Your Entire Screen, a single Application Window, or a Chrome Tab in the Google Chrome browser. Select a tab from the menu and click on the screen you want to share.

3.

Then, click Share.

4.

Your screen will be displayed in the center of the page, over the whiteboard. Any actions you make on your shared screen will be visible to your students.

5.

To stop sharing your screen, click on the Screen icon again.

ADDING CONTENT

Content can be added to the virtual class by clicking the + (plus) button at the bottom of the screen.

ADDING A POLL

3.

You can also create a custom poll with user-provided answers by clicking Custom poll.

4.

Then, input your options and click Start custom poll.

5.

Once a poll has been created, users can submit their answers, which will be visible to the instructor. To finish the poll and share the answers with all participating users, click Publish polling results.

ADDING A DOCUMENT

1.

To add a document, click the + button, then click Upload a presentation.

2.

Then, select the file you would like to upload using the upload area. You can upload PDF files as well as Microsoft Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

3.

Once a file has been selected and uploaded, a green checkmark will appear next to the document name.

4.

Click the option next to the document name to choose whether or not the file can be downloaded by users.

5.

When you are done, click Confirm at the top of the screen.

SHARING AN EXTERNAL VIDEO
