Course Editing: In-Depth Using the Page Editor
Overview of the Pages Toolbar
At the top of the editor, you will see a toolbar that contains commands to manage your pages.
Below is an overview of each command.
Publish
Saves any changes you have made on a page. Edits are not saved until this button is clicked, so use it frequently!
Page Builder
Allows you to use the page builder tool.
View Page
Allows you to see the page you are editing as a student would see it.
Page Break
If there is a disproportionately large amount of text on one page or you want to move some content to a new page, click this button. You can then split up large amounts of content with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Clone Page
Creates a duplicate of the page you are currently editing and inserts it directly after the current page.
Add
This command expands into a menu with several options.
Add a question
This selection allows you to add a question to your course. There are several types of questions you can add, including:
· Multiple Choice
· Fill-in-the-Blank
· Numeric Response
· Text Response
· True or False
Add a dropdown
Adding a dropdown will allow you to provide information in your page that the user will have to click to see. There are three types of dropdowns:
· Hint: Displays the word “Hint” with a question mark
· Fact: Displays the words “Click for fact”
· Show: Allows you to choose the words that the user clicks to reveal additional information
Add a page
Add a new page to this course.
Add a folder
Organize pages into folders.
Manage
This command expands into a menu with several options.
Manage assets
Assets is a term used to describe files that are associated with the course. Assets could refer to image files (such as .jpeg, .jpg, or .png) or documents (such as .pdf, .doc, .docx, .ppt, or .pptx). This command will allow you to manage the assets in your course.
Manage audio
Audio can be added by uploading a file, recording audio in your browser, or generating text-to-speech audio.
Manage subtitles
Subtitles can be added when audio is present on the page. The subtitles allow your students to read along with the audio narration on the page. Note that audio must be added to the page for subtitles to appear.
Options
This command expands into a menu with several options.
Developer Tools
These tools allow users familiar with Java, CSS, or HTML to build features using those languages and integrate them into the course.
Page Options
These options will allow you to change the title of a page, toggle auto-numbering, or delete the page.
Copy
Copy this page to another course.
Assets
This opens the assets menu, where you can view, download, and upload content to be used in your course.
Branding
This allows you to access the course’s branding options.
Options
This allows you to access the course settings page.
Export
This will bring you to a page with different exporting options for your course.
